Autodesk is thrilled to announce its role as the lead sponsor of Smartgeometry 2014, a premier event that unites top minds in architectural design and computational tools from around the world. This year’s gathering, held from July 14–17 at the Chinese University in Hong Kong, will focus on “urban compactionâ€â€”a critical topic exploring how high-rise cities manage population density and infrastructure challenges.
The workshops will feature keynote presentations from industry leaders, highlighting how computational design is reshaping modern urban environments. Autodesk will play a central role by showcasing how Building Information Modeling (BIM) empowers architects and designers to leverage intelligent data early in the design process. Through advancements in open-source Dynamo technology, Autodesk is helping to drive innovation in BIM workflows.
Shane Burger, Director of Design Technology at Woods Bagot, shared his perspective: “As part of our agile design process, we’ve seen firsthand how Autodesk software enhances our global studio's efficiency. With their support for Smartgeometry, we’re witnessing a powerful synergy between Dynamo, Revit, and other cutting-edge tools.â€
At this year’s event, Autodesk will demonstrate the latest version of Dynamo—v0.7.1—which includes major improvements such as a complete code refactor, expanded geometric capabilities, and enhanced scripting support. These updates make it easier for designers to explore complex geometries, automate tasks, and integrate with external systems like robotics.
One of the most exciting features is the ability to import user-authored libraries, enabling faster customization and collaboration. This opens up new possibilities for developers and designers to expand Dynamo’s functionality based on their specific needs.
Jim Lynch, Vice President of Building & Collaboration Products at Autodesk, said, “For decades, we’ve helped streamline design workflows. With Dynamo, we’re entering a new era of productivity. By setting parameters, designers can let the computer generate options, allowing more time for creative thinking and human-centered design.â€
Whether you're a student, professional, or enthusiast, Smartgeometry 2014 offers an incredible opportunity to learn, connect, and explore the future of design. For more information on Dynamo, visit [http://dynamobim.org](http://dynamobim.org).
