The pilot, William Yamokoski, remained in the emergency room of Northwestern Memorial Hospital as of 5:10 p.m., according to a spokeswoman for the hospital, who said she did not know if he would be admitted overnight. Calls started coming in about 1:37 p.m. about the crash of the single-engine plane near 9500 S. Crilly Drive, near a Chicago Police heliport, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said. The pilot appeared to be a man in his mid 40s or 50 who was standing outside the plane when emergency crews got there, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Joe Roccasalva.
