The Winnetka Fire Department was called to a home on the 800 block of Bryant Avenue before 4:00 AM, where a basement fire had broken out in a house undergoing renovation. The flames spread quickly through the first floor and moved into the walls, reaching the second level. The initial Code 3 alarm was escalated to a Code 4 and then to a Box Alarm by 4:30 AM as the situation grew more serious.
Tim Olk arrived early at the scene and captured several photos documenting the early stages of the fire. Later, Larry Shapiro also arrived and contributed additional images that showed the progression of the incident.
Multiple fire companies responded to the call, including engines from Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park, and Evanston. Ambulances from Winnetka and Wilmette were also on site. Truck companies from Winnetka, Northfield, Highwood, Glenview, and Skokie arrived to assist. Morton Grove Squad 4 and chief officers from Winnetka, Wilmette, Northbrook, Northfield, and Glenview were also present.
