This is Steve Redick from the Chicago Still Alarm at 5701 N. Newcastle:

Arrived on scene about 15 minutes into the incident and were immediately met with fire coming out of the roof. The crews quickly made their way to the attic and began attacking the fire from below, which was very effective. A few things stood out during this call… First, Truck 55 was positioned in what some refer to as “beaching” – it worked really well here. Also, the ground ladders were placed strategically to cover all sides of the structure, which is a smart move for safety and access. The photos from Squad 7 show the same engine that’s featured on the TV show *Chicago Fire*. The number 7 on the door looks like a solid tape job, and I’d bet they’re going to keep this rig around for a while. It was an unusual call in an area that’s typically pretty quiet, so it definitely caught our attention.
