This is from Tyler Tobolt: Divers and sonar technicians were searching for a 9-year-old boy in Bangs Lake in Wauconda on Friday night. Wauconda police received a call around 7:20 p.m. at Lakeview Villa Beach regarding a water rescue. Two boys, aged 10 and 9, had been on the lake in a paddleboat when they entered the water and began screaming for help. Nearby fishermen managed to pull the 10-year-old out of the water before emergency crews arrived. As of 9:45 p.m., rescuers were still searching for the 9-year-old boy. Police mentioned that strong winds and rough waters had carried him toward the center of the lake. Fire officials stated that 15 divers, along with sonar technicians from Wauconda Fire Department and neighboring departments, continued the search. They planned to keep looking until midnight, as no signs of the boy had been found yet. The 10-year-old boy was reported to have no life-threatening injuries. The ongoing search was expected to continue throughout the night, with teams working tirelessly under challenging conditions.
