This is from Tyler Tobolt: Divers and sonar teams were searching for a 9-year-old boy in Bangs Lake on Friday night. Wauconda police received a call around 7:20 p.m. regarding a water emergency at Lakeview Villa Beach. Two boys, aged 10 and 9, had been on a paddleboat and accidentally fell into the water. A group of nearby fishermen managed to pull the 10-year-old out before emergency crews arrived. The 9-year-old was still missing as of 9:45 p.m., with officials reporting that strong winds and rough waters had carried him toward the center of the lake. Firefighters from Wauconda and surrounding areas deployed 15 divers along with sonar technicians in an ongoing search operation. They planned to continue until midnight, according to fire officials. The 10-year-old was not seriously injured, and authorities said the search would continue through the night. This tragic incident has left the community deeply shaken and reminded everyone of the dangers of water activities, especially in unpredictable weather conditions.
