### **Thanksgiving Smoked Turkey Legs with PGS A Series Grills**
This recipe has been adapted to give you a bit more spice and depth of flavor. The combination of garlic, paprika, and a touch of Cayenne adds a nice kick, while the applewood chips infuse the meat with a sweet, smoky aroma.
#### **Ingredients**
- ½ cup melted butter
- 2 tsp sea salt
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp seasoned salt
- 1¼ tsp paprika
- 1½ tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp crushed pepper
- ½ tsp dried basil
- ½ tsp Cayenne pepper
- 2 turkey legs (1½ lbs each)
- 3 cups soaked applewood chips
*Note: This version is twice as spicy as the original. Adjust the spices to suit your taste.*
#### **Directions**
1. In a small bowl, mix the first nine ingredients with the melted butter. Brush the turkey legs with the mixture and let rest for 4 minutes.
2. Place soaked wood chips in a smoking packet (see below) and place over direct heat. Put the turkey legs on the grill rack and cook over indirect medium heat for 40–45 minutes, turning every 4–6 minutes. Use a thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 175°F.
**Make a Smoking Packet:**
Use heavy-duty aluminum foil, add soaked wood chips, fold into a packet, and poke a few holes for smoke to escape. Place directly over heat.
Don’t forget the cranberry sauce! Here's a quick and easy recipe that pairs perfectly with the turkey.
### **Cranberry Sauce Recipe**
- 1 lb fresh cranberries
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 3 whole star anise
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan on your PGS grill side burner. Simmer for 10 minutes, remove the star anisan, and serve once cooled.
