Another addition to Division 10 is the Hinsdale Fire Department. This single-station department employs 26 career firefighters who serve the town of Hinsdale, a small community covering about 4.64 square miles in DuPage County. The department operates two ambulances, three fire engines, and a tower ladder, providing essential emergency services to the residents. What sets Hinsdale apart is its distinctive color scheme—bright yellow with black roofs—which was once shared only by Carol Stream, another nearby department also located in DuPage County. While Carol Stream transitioned to a black-over-red paint job several years ago, Hinsdale remained loyal to its original look for many years. In 2008, Hinsdale received a new piece of equipment: a Spartan/Rosenbauer/Metz Raptor tower ladder. This unit marked a shift, as it was painted in a black-over-red scheme rather than the traditional yellow. Interestingly, this unique aerial apparatus is also found at the Countryside Fire Protection District in Division 4 (Lake County). Both departments use short, single-axle chassis for their tower ladders, but the Countryside unit is built on an HME chassis and features a white roof instead of black. This color scheme is unique to the area but does not appear to be around for too much longer. The newest unit arrived with a traditional 'Chicago-style' paint scheme. Thanks to Karl Klotz for providing all of the Hinsdale images.
Continuous casting slabs or primary rolling slabs are used as raw materials, heated by a stepping furnace, and dephosphorized by high-pressure water, and then enter the roughing mill. The rough rolling material is cut through the head, tail, and then into the finishing mill, and computer-controlled rolling is carried out. After the final rolling, it will go through laminar cooling (computer-controlled cooling rate) and take-up by the coiler to become a straight hair coil. The head and tail of straight hair curls tend to be tongue-shaped and fish-tailed, with poor thickness and width accuracy, and often have wavy, folded, tower-shaped and other defects on the edges. The coil is heavier and the inner diameter of the steel coil is 760mm. (Generally used in the pipe-making industry.) After straightening the hair through the cutting head, tail cutting, trimming and multi-pass straightening and smoothing finishing lines, and then cutting or re-rolling, it becomes: hot rolling Steel plates, flat hot rolled steel coils, slitting tapes and other products. If the hot-rolled finishing coil is pickled to remove scale and coated with oil, it will become a hot-rolled pickled coil.
