Chain Shackles are assembled together with cast pins,
working with cement kiln chains. Chain shackles are manufactured by
investment casting technology to ensure high dimensional accuracy and
surface finish. The chain shackles have the advantage of heat resistant, which make them work in the cement kiln. Construction is well underway for the new Palatine Fire Department Station 81, located at 1215 N. Quentin Road, just south of Dundee Road. This modern facility is less than a mile away from the current station, which the city took over from the Palatine Rural Fire District in January 2001. The old station, now set to be vacated, has long been considered outdated and in need of replacement. Once the new station is completed and occupied by the fire department, the Palatine Masonic Temple will move into the former fire station at 455 Dundee Road, a building constructed in the early 1980s.
The new station will offer improved functionality and safety for emergency responders. Unlike the current facility, which is situated close to the road, the new station will be set back with a longer driveway. Fire apparatus will also enter onto a four-lane road with a center median, providing safer and more efficient access compared to the narrow, heavily trafficked stretch of Dundee Road. This change is expected to reduce response times and improve overall operations.
The new building will span approximately 8,700 square feet and will house Quint 81 and Ambulance 81, which currently operates as a jump unit. The design includes updated equipment storage, training areas, and living quarters for firefighters. These improvements reflect the growing needs of the community and the department’s commitment to modernizing its services.
Photos from the construction site show the progress being made, with the foundation and structural elements already in place. Local residents have expressed excitement about the new station, which is expected to open later this year. The move marks an important step forward for the Palatine Fire Department as it continues to serve the community with enhanced resources and capabilities.
