Following the announcement in September of the construction of a factory in Brazil to produce cars, the German Mercedes-Benz Company announced on the 27th that it will invest US$456 million to expand the scale of production of trucks and buses in Brazil.

Stefan Bucher, global president of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, announced the news at the 19th Sao Paulo International Transport Exhibition. The exhibition is Latin America's largest trade fair for products and technologies in the logistics industry.

Bucher pointed out that the investment will be used to expand the production scale of Mercedes-Benz's two trucks and passenger coach plants in Brazil, as well as the development of new products and technologies suitable for the local area. The entire investment plan will be completed within two years. These factories are located in San Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, and the city of Ruez de Fora in Minas Gerais.

In late September, Mercedes-Benz had just announced that it would invest 230 million U.S. dollars in Brazil to build a new plant in Ilas Macolis, São Paulo. The plant will be put into production in 2016 and will produce 20,000 cars annually, creating more than 1,000 direct jobs.
