I just got this update from Jeff Rudolph: --- It’s 09:30 AM on September 1st, 2016, and I’m at 549 Indian Trail in Round Lake Park, Illinois. This is where Round Lake and Grayslake responded to a report of a structure fire. When we arrived, we found a single-story house fully engulfed in flames. Command quickly upgraded the situation to a box alarm. The main body of the fire was brought under control relatively fast, but it had already spread into the attic. Our initial plan was to extinguish the fire from below, but after some investigation, we realized the pitched roof had been installed over an existing flat roof. That meant we couldn’t fight the fire from underneath—it had to be tackled from above instead. Things took a turn for the worse when the fire intensified and became more difficult to manage. Libertyville’s tower ladder was deployed to help knock down the flames from above. It was a challenging operation, but our teams worked tirelessly to bring the situation under control. One resident was transported to the hospital for a precautionary check-up. The State Fire Marshal's office was contacted to bring in a K9 unit to search for any signs of accelerants. The homeowner claims that someone intentionally set the fire, which adds another layer of complexity to the investigation. These photos were taken by me during the incident. [Insert multiple photos here] --- [Photos would be inserted here, similar to the original structure but described in greater detail.]
