In the past six years, ABB’s investment in China has averaged around US$100 million annually. Today, the number of ABB companies in China has reached 30, of which 11 are among the top 100 companies in China in 2009. At present, more than 80% of ABB's products sold in China are manufactured locally in China, and exported to more than 20 countries and regions. ABB's application-leading technologies have participated in many projects in China to help customers improve the stability of their power grids, increase industrial productivity and achieve energy efficiency. Among them, ABB's energy-efficient inverter products have accumulated 50 billion kwh of electricity for domestic customers in the past 15 years, which can satisfy Beijing residents' 10 years of electricity consumption and reduce CO2 emissions by 50 million tons.
ABB has long been committed to corporate social responsibility in a sustainable manner. After the earthquake in Yushu, Qinghai Province in April this year, ABB quickly donated 2.6 million yuan to the disaster-stricken area; during the same period, ABB officially completed the construction of the first two schools for earthquake-stricken areas in Sichuan, and the second batch of two reconstruction schools will be built. It was completed this month. Since 2005, it has provided support for the ABB-New Great Wall Poverty-stricken Undergraduate Student Fund. The total accumulated donations have reached RMB 6 million.
