The Anding Town Landfill in Daxing District is located outside Beijing's Liuhuan Road. Here, landfill gas is purified to become liquefied natural gas , which becomes the fuel for environmental clean vehicles . In addition to natural gas, waste can also generate electricity. Leachate can be treated as green water for greening. In this way, landfills can be buried in landfills for sustainable landfills. He Liang, deputy general manager of Beijing Sanitation Group, said that no one wants to live next to the rubbish dump. Our goal is not to requisition new landfills.

The garbage dump becomes an ecological park

A report in early 2010 stated that Beijing's regular landfills will be saturated after four years. If no measures are taken, Beijing's garbage will have nowhere to go. The solution is no more than building a new landfill. However, where the landfill is built is a difficult task, and no one wants his home to be next to the rubbish dump.

Beijing Sanitation Group's Anding Town Landfill Site wants to use technology to solve the problem of “places” of garbage. In October 2010, the demonstration project of the “Liquefied Landfill Gas to Liquid Natural Gas Project” was completed and an attempt was made to convert biogas into natural gas. This technology is suitable for landfill gas, etc. Combined with landfill gas combustion engine power generation technology, it can form a complete landfill gas treatment and resource recycling system. In other words, biogas has become a raw material, half of which is used for power generation, and half of it has been technologically processed to make clean energy such as natural gas.

In the park, the reporter saw this "circulatory system." The two neighboring rubbish hills are 30 meters high and are dressed in "green clothes" full of vegetation. Yamashita is the landfill gas purification device in the park. The mountain and the device are connected by underground pipelines. The purification devices are very large and complex. Each one is a small “building”. It is more like a small factory area. Biogas is made into natural gas in these pipelines and decarbonization towers and is filled into two large tanks. The filling station was built next to it. A sanitation car was coming in. The staff joined the gas in the tank like fuel. In addition, on the other side of the park, there is a large pond with lotus plants and fish.

According to the staff, the water in the pond is the medium water formed after the treatment of landfill leachate. The greenery in the park will use it. In this way, tangible and useless rubbish is turned into invisible water, electricity, and gas. It does not occupy land and frees up space. He Liang said that this is called sustainable landfilling and burying it on the side. "We hope to dispose of garbage on existing land in the future and we will not requisition land for landfills."

Sanitation vehicles use "sanitation gas"

The two rubbish mountains at the Anding Town Landfill site occupy a total area of more than 70 hectares and are 30 meters high. The two mountains can reach a height of 70 meters, and the entire area can fill 1,400 tons of garbage. According to estimates, 2.394 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas can be produced each year, which is equivalent to producing 230 million liters of 93 gasoline per year. According to a car using 2,000 liters of gasoline a year, it can be used for 1150 vehicles for a year. According to reports, the cost of natural gas for vehicles is more than 4 yuan per cubic meter, but the cost of natural gas for natural gas (excluding the collection cost, etc.) is only 1.4 yuan.

At present, there are already 5 Sanitation vehicles using natural gas here. He Liang introduced that the technology is still being further debugged and that before the end of 2015, 2,500 sanitation vehicles of the Beijing Sanitation Group can use natural gas to change natural gas, so that “sanitation vehicles use sanitation gas”. He Liang revealed that in order to facilitate the use, the future sanitation group will also build gas stations in urban areas.

At the same time, during the landfill process, due to biodegradation, large quantities of toxic odorous gases such as methane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and hydrogen sulfide continue to be generated, and direct discharge into the air will cause atmospheric pollution. When natural gas is produced, emission of harmful gases such as carbon dioxide can be reduced.
