This is from Steve Redick: These photos were in terrible condition—colors were off and faded. I was surprised at how much I could restore without losing too much detail. They’re not perfect, but at least they’re now usable. I think if I converted them to black and white, they’d look almost perfect. Enjoy the history. After returning from Arkansas, I brought back a lot of my dad’s collection. One item that stood out was a series of 3x5 color prints from a fire in 1974 that my dad and I attended. It was a cold storage warehouse, and I remember it burning for days. At some point, the building collapsed onto an adjacent structure, triggering another alarm. We arrived well after the initial call and took a tour of the fireground, capturing these images of some classic fire apparatus in action. The photo with Big John in the background is one of the few you'll see where both water cannons were operational. Usually, they couldn’t get enough water pressure to use both at the same time. Also, note how the 2000-GPM LaFrances often used both ports on the hydrant. They had a rule that no other pumper could share a hydrant with a 2,000-gallon rig, which allowed them to fully utilize both steamer ports.
