Karl Klotz documented a fire incident this afternoon in Frankfort. Here's his report: Frankfort, 11/22/2011: A two-story frame house at 20111 Rosewood Drive was fully involved in flames. Frankfort Truck Co. 2 was the first to arrive and found the front portion of the home well on fire. The fire appeared to have originated in the garage area. Firefighters launched an aggressive defensive attack before entering the structure. Fortunately, no one was injured, but several cats were rescued from the scene. Companies from Frankfort, Matteson, and Manhattan also responded to the call. The fire caused significant damage, particularly to the front of the house. Crews worked tirelessly to bring the flames under control and ensure the area was safe. Several hot spots remained after the fire was knocked down, requiring additional attention from firefighters. Ventilation efforts were made by Frankfort Tower 5, while Engine Co. 1 and Engine Co. 3 focused on cooling down the structure. Multiple photos capture the intensity of the situation. One image shows the front of the house after the fire had been extinguished, with firefighters working on the remaining embers. Another photo highlights the ventilation work being done from the rear of the building. Firefighters were seen tackling hot spots and removing debris, showing their dedication to the task. A particularly touching moment came when a firefighter from Frankfort Engine Co. 3 rescued one of the family’s cats. Unfortunately, the cat later escaped from its cage but was eventually re-captured. Another firefighter from Matteson Engine Co. 6 helped remove another cat, and a final photo shows a third cat safely making it out of the house with the help of a local firefighter.
