**From Drew Gresik:**
On May 27, 2016, there was a working fire at a bungalow located at 4236 Leland Avenue in Lyons. When the first engine arrived, they encountered heavy smoke coming from the attic. The firefighters quickly deployed two lines and successfully opened up the roof using Riverside Truck 1629. During their search efforts, some birds were rescued, which was a heartwarming moment. Fortunately, it seemed that the fire was primarily contained within the attic area. The response and teamwork displayed by all the companies on scene were commendable.
Here’s a bit more detail about the images I’ve shared:
The first photo shows a firefighter at the scene, capturing the intensity and focus required during such an incident. It really highlights the dedication of these professionals who put themselves in harm's way for the safety of others. In another shot, you can see the Lyons firefighters actively engaged, working together to extinguish the flames. The third image features Riverside FD Truck 1629, which played a crucial role in opening the roof to access the attic fire. Then there’s a picture of Lyons FD Engine 1312, showcasing the equipment and resources needed to manage such situations effectively.
One of the most striking photos is the one with the ladders leading up to the roof. This really gives a sense of the effort required to reach and control fires in hard-to-reach areas like attics. Another image captures the aftermath, where firefighters are seen standing on the roof post-fire, likely assessing the damage and ensuring everything is under control. Lastly, there’s a shot of Bedford Park FD Truck 709, further emphasizing the collaborative nature of firefighting efforts in emergencies.
These photos truly capture the bravery and skill of the firefighters involved. Their quick thinking and decisive actions undoubtedly prevented a much larger disaster. A big thanks to everyone who helped out that day!
