When they arrived, crews discovered flames engulfing one unit of a six-unit townhouse complex. As the fire quickly spread to neighboring units, the emergency response was escalated first to a Box Alarm and then upgraded to a Second Alarm.
Firefighters responded aggressively and managed to contain the blaze before it reached the end units, preventing further damage. Unfortunately, three firefighters sustained minor injuries during the operation. Some residents also received medical attention on the scene, though thankfully no major incidents were reported among them.
Mutual aid support was provided by multiple departments including Beach Park, Grayslake, Mundelein, Waukegan, and Libertyville. Additional resources like a ladder truck from Round Lake and a squad from Fox Lake were also dispatched. Four mutual aid ambulances—Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Lake Villa, Long Grove, and Zion—were present to assist with rehab services and transport needs.
