Thursday night around 1509 Gunderson in Berwyn, I responded to a box alarm. Upon arrival, there was heavy fire visible and two people were transported to the hospital. Command quickly escalated the situation to a full still, and reinforcements were called in soon after.
Oak Park Tower 631 and Berwyn Truck 904 both deployed their master streams. Berwyn Engines 902 and 903 dropped their lines to assist. Berwyn Quint 901, Cicero Engine 2, and Forest Park Engine 402 were also actively involved in pumping water. The fire seemed to have originated at the back of the 1.5-story residence. Here are some of my photos from the scene:
There's a shot of Berwyn Engine 902 with multiple lines deployed, OKPK Tower 631 positioned at 15th and Gunderson, Berwyn Truck 904 set up on 15th Street, a front view of the burning building, Stickney Engine 1203, Cicero F-12—a 2012 Chevy Tahoe—Berwyn Quint 901 supplying water for Truck 904’s aerial operations, and two views of the rear of the structure.
Special thanks go out to Drew Gresik for sharing these images. They provide a detailed look into how various departments worked together to manage this intense situation.

I’ve included several photos capturing different angles of the firefighting efforts. In one image, you can see Berwyn Engine 902 with its lines deployed, showing the intensity of the operation. Another shows OKPK Tower 631 set up strategically at 15th and Gunderson. There’s also a clear view of Berwyn Truck 904 positioned on 15th Street. From the front of the fire building, another photo gives an overview of the chaos. Additionally, there are shots of Stickney Engine 1203, Cicero F-12, and Berwyn Quint 901 assisting with pumping operations to support Truck 904’s aerial efforts. Finally, two images focus on the rear of the structure, offering further insight into the extent of the damage.
This was quite the spectacle, with firefighters from multiple jurisdictions coming together to bring it under control. It's always impressive to see how they coordinate during emergencies like this. Thanks again to Drew Gresik for letting me share his photos—it really helps paint the picture of what happened that night.
