It was a busy night for the Oak Forest Fire Department. As I received the update from Kevin Griffin, he mentioned that they responded to a full-scale fire on Sunday evening (May 10, 2015). It all started when Oak Forest Truck 12 was the first responder to arrive at the scene, where a fire had broken out at the back of the house. By the time I got there, the fire had already been extinguished, and crews were focused on the overhaul process.
The firefighting efforts involved several units. Oak Forest Engine 11 and Truck 12 were the primary responders, while Chiefs 900 and 901 were also on-site to oversee operations. The Posen squad, a Crestwood engine, a Midlothian squad, and a Flossmoor engine provided additional support. An Orland truck, Hazel Crest truck, Matteson ambulance, and an Orland ambulance were also dispatched to assist. It was clear that this was a coordinated effort involving multiple departments to ensure the situation was handled efficiently.
Looking around, the photos captured by Kevin Griffin tell part of the story. In one image, firefighters can be seen standing near the charred remains of the house, their gear still on as they assess the damage. Another shot shows an ambulance parked nearby, its lights dimmed but ready to respond if needed. There’s also a picture of a fire truck illuminated under the night sky, its presence both imposing and reassuring. A third photo highlights the teamwork between different emergency vehicles, each playing its role in the operation.
As someone who appreciates these moments of community cooperation, it was inspiring to see so many dedicated professionals working together. Their commitment to public safety shines through even in the aftermath of such incidents. While the exact cause of the fire remains unclear, the collective effort ensures that situations like this are managed with precision and care.
