On the evening of May 10th, 2015, the Oak Forest Fire Department responded to a structure fire that had broken out at the back of a residence. As I arrived shortly after the flames had been extinguished, firefighters were already in the process of conducting overhaul operations. The initial response included Oak Forest’s Engine 11 and Truck 12, which were among the first units on the scene. Chief 900 and Chief 901 were also present, overseeing the operation. Additional support came from neighboring departments, including a squad from Posen, a Crestwood engine, a Midlothian squad, a Flossmoor engine, an Orland truck, a Hazel Crest truck, a Matteson ambulance, and an Orland ambulance. The situation unfolded quickly, with firefighters working diligently to ensure the fire was fully contained before moving into the overhaul phase. It was a collaborative effort involving multiple agencies, all focused on securing the area and preventing any further damage. Photos taken by Kevin Griffin provide a glimpse into the intensity of the scene, capturing the firefighters’ efforts under the cover of darkness. As I walked through the aftermath, the dedication and professionalism of the responders were evident. Each team played a crucial role in managing the crisis, ensuring both the safety of those involved and the preservation of the surrounding property. It was a reminder of the critical importance of coordinated emergency responses in our communities. --- Attached are several images captured by Kevin Griffin during the incident. These photos vividly depict the firefighters in action, the presence of multiple emergency vehicles, and the overall scale of the response effort. The first image shows firefighters assessing the damaged area, while subsequent photos highlight the array of equipment and personnel involved. The final two images focus on the fire trucks and ambulances that were part of the extensive support network deployed to address the situation. This experience underscores the vital role that local fire departments play in protecting our neighborhoods, often going above and beyond the call of duty. Their commitment to service is truly commendable.
